Bicycle NSW is campaigning in 2017, to set a world record for the largest women’s community bicycle ride! On the 12th of March, women and girls from all over NSW will come together in Bicentennial Park and Wolli Creek to start their 20km, 40km or 60km journey to the finish line in Cronulla. The Gear Up Girl ride aims to bring together women of all ages and abilities to ride together, celebrate cycling and discover the amazing cycleways in the greater Sydney area.
Gear Up Girl was founded in 2008 and has expanded into a mass community bike ride. This year Bicycle NSW aims to take this growth to a whole new level. Setting a world record for the largest women’s community bicycle ride!
This would be amazing for New South Wales and Australia , plus YOU would be a world record holder as a participant!
Research shows that only 26% percent of riders in NSW are women (2016 Bicycle NSW Bike Riders Survey), a statistic we want to shake up through Gear Up Girl. Showing that cycling is an enjoyable recreational activity and for transport, and we wanted to encourage more women onto their bicycles.
Register now for the 20km Beach ride, 40km Classic ride or the 60km Coast ride and be part of this world record setting event on Sunday 12 March 2017. Sign up your friends and family and make it a great day out with the girls.
